Two weeks into tour and we have done 8 concerts and stayed with 8 host families. I have changed from working shifts to being on constant 24-hour shifts. Every second night I wonder where I am going to be sleeping and what my host family will be like. My bus seat has become my bedroom and I am living out of the smallest suitcase in the world!!! But I am ok with that…it can be challenging at times but I have realised how little I actually need to get through each day! As long as I have my ipod, a bed and my straighteners I am happy!
The team have bonded really well and we are all working really well together. We still don’t have Auntie Mary and Uncle Godfrey with us but hopefully within the next 2 weeks they will be with us. They had their visas denied so they couldn’t travel with us, they went back to Uganda and have reapplied!
I have been having lots of fun with my children. I stay with different children in each host family and usually on a 2-night stay we have one evening we can spend with the family. We have been to the beach, gone to the park, played in the garden and the children have loved having other children to play with.
I have been able to spend time with family with some of our concerts being so close. 23 children and 7 chaperones crammed into the tiny little cottage at home and we had lunch…It was so good that my mum and other family have met my children and new family!
I have been teaching Grade 5 – English, Math, Natural & social science, Life Orientation and Arts & Culture. It has been a good experience so far and I am enjoying it although it is hard work trying to fit in 18 hours of school per week along with rehearsals, concerts, naps, playtime and travelling. I didn’t realise I would have such a big role in teaching before I started and now I am seriously thinking of doing a teaching degree!!!
I am happy with how my life is right now and I know this is where God wants me to be for this time in my life.
I thank you all for your support and prayers! Even though I am so close to home I would still love to hear your news and how you all are. Feel free to email or write!
